The Schedule

  • Tuluvi Arts Kyoto Immersion 1

    Day 1 - Earth, Wind, Fire & Water

    Today we will travel to one of Kyoto’s best-kept-secret temples (and Kamau’s favorite), where we will immerse into nature to practice the fundamentals of energy awareness and meditative practice. This day will set the tone for our four days of experience.

    In the morning, we will join a sacred ‘Goma Ritual’. The Goma ritual (護摩) is an esoteric Buddhist fire‐offering ceremony practiced chiefly in Japan’s Shingon and Tendai schools. During the rite, a priest chants mantras and sutras while consecrating a blazing hearth into which wooden sticks (goma‐gi), inscribed with participants’ prayers or intentions, are cast. As the flames consume the offerings, they symbolically burn away karmic impurities and obstacles, invoke wisdom deities (most notably Fudō Myōō), and bestow purification, protection, and spiritual blessings upon all present.

    Afterwards we will journey west to a special Shingon temple.

    * Goma Ritual Ceremony

    * Explore and Practice at Beautiful Esoteric Buddhist Temple

    * Qi Gong Practice

  • Day 2 - Life Force Energy and Personal Power

    On Day 2, we travel up and over Mt. Kurama mountain. At the apex, we will engage in a powerful Tuluvi energy arts practice at the refreshing and energetically charged location where Mikao Usui meditated for 21 days and brought forth the healing modality known as ‘Reiki’. Along the way, we will experience the grandeur of 800 year old trees and stop for meditation at Kurama Temple, as well as exploring other wonderful sites the mountain area offers.

    * Sacred Mountain Hike

    * Mountain Temple Visit

    * Qi Gong and Meditation at the Birthplace of Reiki

  • Day 3 - Mystical Creativity & Mantra

    Creativity is the language of the unseen to the seen. On this day, we enter the sacred dimension of Mystical Creativity, where expression becomes a bridge between spirit and form, between the silence within and the living landscape around us. Through written and spoken word, sacred movement and visual art, we will allow the expressions from our depth to rise to the surface.

    * Japanese Tea Ceremony
    Esoteric Poetry workshop with Kamau Special Performance Presentation

  • Day 4 - The Spirit of Nara

    Nara is where the breath of Japan's spiritual heritage still lingers in the morning mist.

    Before Kyoto, there was Nara, the first capital of Japan and the birthplace of many of its most enduring sacred traditions. Here, the presence of the kami (spirit forces) and Buddhas foster a living atmosphere woven into the towering cedars, the silent stone lanterns.

    On this day, we journey into the quiet soul of Japan.

    * You will walk the same paths once trodden by monks, poets, and pilgrims.

    * Visit one of Japan’s most beautiful temples and was the first temple to allow and welcome women into sacred grounds for worship.

    * Engage in specific grounding practices to deepen our presence and attune to the subtle currents of energy that still pulse through this sacred terrain.

  • Day 5 - Kyoto Traditonal Arts

    In Japan, the traditional life and cultural arts are honored and preserved in Kyoto. On this Kyoto day, we will engage and experience the weaving of the old, the now, and the future. You will experience:

    *Traditional Japanese Dance Performance

    * Japanese Dinner

  • Day 6 - Boutiques and Shops

    On the final day, you can explore the variety of unique shops and boutiques Kyoto has for arts, crafts and clothing shopping. Let us know your interests and we’ll steer you in the right direction.

Kamau & Nanaka

Join Us on the Journey - Let's Have a Chat

Kamau Abayomi and Nanaka Abayomi are interdisciplinary artists, spiritual guides, and cultural stewards whose work bridges ancient wisdom and contemporary embodiment.

Kamau is a mystic poet and performance arts curator, certified qi gong instructor, and soul remembrance guide with over 25 years of experience in energy cultivation, African and Asian esoteric practice, and metaphysical exploration. A graduate of the Monroe Institute’s Gateway Voyage program, he brings a grounded clarity and visionary depth to every space he enters, guiding others into the subtle dimensions of inner truth and energetic presence. Kamau has been traveling to Japan to teach, to learn and to create for over two decades.

Nanaka is a dancer, yogini, and teacher of healing through movement. Born and raised in Nagoya, Japan, she was trained in traditional Japanese dance at a young age and expanded into contemporary dance movement. Her path has flowed through soul music, somatic yoga, and temple arts. Her presence is at once rooted and ethereal, inviting grace, stillness, and remembrance through the body’s innate intelligence.

Together, they create spaces where the mystical becomes tangible; where sacred practice, cultural reverence, and inner listening open gateways to a deeper experience of self, land, and spirit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Travel & Logistics

The Mystical Arts Immersion begins its unfolding in Kyoto and Nara, two of Japan’s most sacred and historic landscapes, where ancient temples, forests, and shrines still whisper their timeless wisdom.
The immersion will take place in spring from May 6th - 11th, May 25th - 30th and November 9th - 15th, 2026 and November 26th - 30th. It will be five days of practice, exploration, creativity, and sacred connection with the living spirit of Japan, and one day for gift shopping.
We recommend flying into Kansai International Airport (KIX) near Osaka. From there, it is an easy shuttle ride to Kyoto, where our immersion begins.
Accommodations are not included, allowing you the flexibility to choose your level of comfort. We will assist you with thoughtful recommendations close to our gathering locations in Kyoto.
Yes. All group transportation during the immersion is fully covered once the program begins. You are responsible for your flight to and departing from Kyoto, and any transport outside of scheduled immersion times.
Our daily rhythm flows from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., blending practices, temple visits, and creative exploration. Afterward, you’ll have personal free time, with optional evening offerings for those who wish to dive deeper into the mystery of Japan’s nights.
Travel insurance is not required but is strongly encouraged to offer you peace of mind for unexpected changes or events during your journey. We are not liable for covering any injuries, illnesses or loss property.

Preparation & Requirements

No prior experience is needed. Whether you are stepping onto this path for the first time or deepening an existing practice, you are warmly welcomed just as you are.
Travel light with a comfortable backpack. Bring a journal, water, and your openness. Comfortable walking shoes are essential, as the sacred places we visit invite slow, mindful steps.
Daily lunch is lovingly covered. Breakfast and dinner will be at your leisure, allowing you to explore Kyoto’s culinary offerings. We accommodate dietary needs with care — simply let us know in advance.
There will be a more than moderate amount of walking, as we explore forest trails, temple pathways, an ascent up mountain steps, as well as walking the Kyoto city paths. This immersion will require you engage in walking and standing in and through nature and sacred spaces; you will find it enriching.
In May, the weather is warming up in Spring season. Dress for warm days, potential cool nights and ease of movement. Late Oct/Early Nov it begins to get cold in Japan. The daytime can be warm, but it will definitely be getting Autumn’s cold air in the evening. We recommend clothing that is warm, yet comfortable for movement in cool mountain and forest temple visits and nature walks. A rain jacket is also wise, should the sky choose to bless us with rain.

Group & Atmosphere

We are keeping the group intentionally small — limited to just 8 participants — to ensure intimacy, personal attention, and a deeper collective resonance .
Participants must be 18 years or older. We welcome all sincere travelers from diverse backgrounds. A personal conversation will be held with each registrant to ensure harmony within the group container.
Yes. Personal reflection, journaling, and creative exploration are woven naturally into each day’s rhythm and are vital parts of your unfolding journey.
The immersion will be conducted in English, with Japanese translation offered as needed. We also recommend downloading a translation app to assist you during your personal adventures outside of our sessions.

Payment & Cancellation

The early bird rate is $2,200, afterwards, $2800.
Yes. You may divide your investment into two payments if needed. Simply let us know, and we will arrange it with care.
You can cancel your booking up to 1 month prior to the start date and receive 50% refund. If within a month to start, unforseen circumstances happen such world events, family emergency, or serious illness, we will refund 50% of the payment. We recommend travel insurance for additional protection.
Final payment is due one month after the initial payment, to ensure everything flows gracefully as we prepare to welcome you. If there any personal adjustments you would like to make, we are open to discuss.

For Those Who Feel the Quiet Call

It is natural to feel both the pull of the soul and the tremble of uncertainty. If something within you stirs at the thought of this journey, we invite you to trust it. Often, the greatest openings come through the quietest doors.
Yes. There is no measure of worthiness here. Only sincerity matters. If you are willing to listen, to open, and to be present, you already carry everything you need.
This journey rekindles your connection to being present with your personal energy dynamics. This immersion will make you aware of your current overall state of being, as well as the specifics of what is happening with you, overtly and subtly. Through being present in the space and silence of the elegantly energized atmosphere of Kyoto, where we will walk and move, and sit and meditate in ancient sacred sites, and be inspired by historical learning and creative expression, you will be naturally moved into the opportunity to energize your own abilities, your own path, your own deeper rhythm of being. You will conclude this journey with an experience you will carry for the rest of your life.
This is not a tour, nor a retreat in the conventional sense. It is an experience that is curated to guide you into your own self-discovery and self-knowldege, simply by being present in a land that is rich in spirit, history and creativity. While our direct experience and guidance will bring direction and focus, you are just as much a guide to your experience as you are being guided into experiencing. This immersion provides the opportunity to engage in spirituality and the mystical as an everyday, every location, every moment practice, while simultaneously experiencing the true spirit of Kyoto, Japan.
No. Some journeys are meant to be entered without any goals or specific intention, only an openness and willingness to accept and respond to what is presented. Trust that whatever seeks to emerge will reveal itself in its own time, through your willingness to step into the mystery. Loose intentions are fine, but we actually recommend that people do not hold any rigid expectations or goals, which can block what Japan and your own Soul want to reveal to you.

If a quiet question remains within you, trust that it, too, is part of the path. We welcome you to reach out. Sometimes, a single conversation is all that is needed to get clear.
